Privacy policy
Last revised 15 August 2026
NavOfficer does not ask you for or collect direct identifying information such as your name, email address or contact details. The work you do in the app, meaning your calculations, ship profiles and preferences, stays on your device. Subscription information is sent only to the applicable app store and to RevenueCat, so that Pro access can be validated, restored and managed. This page explains what that means in practice, and it is the same policy that appears inside the app under Settings.
What is collected
There are no accounts, no registration, no signing in and no user profile. NavOfficer does not use advertising, tracking across other apps or websites, crash reporting, or general behavioural analytics about how you use the calculators.
To provide Pro subscriptions, the app communicates with RevenueCat and the applicable app store, as described under Purchases. RevenueCat processes purchase history for subscription functionality and for related subscription analytics. Nothing you enter or calculate, including ship profiles, saved calculations and preferences, is sent to RevenueCat. Services provided by Apple, Google or the device operating system are governed by their own policies rather than by this one.
What is kept on your device
So that the app is useful between sessions, five things are stored locally: your display and format preferences, the calculators you opened most recently, your ship profiles including any hydrostatic table you paste in, your saved calculations, and whether a Pro subscription is active. Where purchasing is connected, the RevenueCat software also stores its anonymous App User ID and cached subscription information on the device.
All of it is written to the app's private storage on the device and is not ordinarily accessible to other apps. Your preferences, your recent calculators, your ship profiles and your saved calculations are never transmitted, and the subscription check described under Purchases sends none of them. Uninstalling the app removes the app and its locally stored data from that device. A copy may still exist in an operating system backup if device backup is enabled, which is controlled by Apple or Google rather than by NavOfficer.
Purchases
Purchases and subscription billing are processed through your App Store or Google Play account. The store takes the payment and receives whatever its own privacy policy describes, and the developer never receives your payment card details. On the device, the app records only whether a Pro subscription is currently active.
Subscriptions are handled for the developer by RevenueCat, Inc., which checks purchases with the store and tells the app whether Pro is active. The app contacts RevenueCat when it starts, when you open the subscription screen, and when you buy or restore a subscription. RevenueCat receives purchase and transaction information from the store, including the store receipt, together with basic technical information such as device type and operating system information. It may also receive locale and currency information and determine a transaction country. As with any internet service, the request reaches RevenueCat from an IP address. RevenueCat states that it may use that address to determine country and does not keep the address afterwards.
No account is created for you, and the app sends no name, email address or contact detail, because it holds none. RevenueCat recognises the installation by an anonymous App User ID generated on your device, which the app does not connect to your identity. RevenueCat handles this for the developer and under the developer's instructions. The developer remains responsible for it, and this policy is the one that governs it.
Children
The app is a professional tool and is not directed at children. NavOfficer does not ask children, or any user, for a name, email address, contact details or other direct identifiers. Subscription information is handled only as described under Purchases.
Your control over the data
Everything you enter is on your device and under your control. Ship profiles and saved calculations can be deleted from inside the app, and uninstalling the app removes its locally stored data from that device. RevenueCat keeps subscription records associated with the anonymous identifier described under Purchases, including the transaction information needed to manage Pro access. The app does not provide RevenueCat with your name, email address or contact details.
To request access to, correction of, or deletion of subscription information, write to support@navofficer.app. The request will be passed to RevenueCat where that is necessary.
This website
This website collects nothing. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, embeds nothing from other services and carries no contact forms or trackers. Nothing you do here is recorded, which is why you are not asked to accept anything to read it.
Changes to this policy
This policy is updated before any version ships that changes what leaves your device, and the date above changes with it. The subscription provider described under Purchases was the first such change, and the policy was revised to describe it before that version was released.
