These terms govern your use of NavOfficer. Using the app means you accept them. The same terms appear inside the app under Settings.

What this app is

NavOfficer is a calculation and training aid for deck officers and maritime academy students. It works the standard navigational, shiphandling and cargo computations and shows how each answer was reached, so a figure can be cross checked rather than taken on trust.

What this app is not

It is not a navigation system, an ECDIS, a loading computer or an approved stability instrument. It is not type approved, it is not part of any vessel's carriage requirements, and it does not replace official publications, corrected charts, the vessel's approved stability information or the vessel's or company's safety management system. It must never be the sole means of navigation.

Your responsibility

Every figure the app produces must be independently verified before it is relied on operationally. You remain responsible for the safety of the vessel, for the passage plan, and for the professional judgement that no calculator can supply. Check results against official sources and against your own working, exactly as you would check any single source.

Accuracy

The computations are checked against published worked examples from recognised sources. Where an error has been identified in a published worked example, NavOfficer may use a documented corrected value instead. That is care, not a guarantee: the app is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind, and no warranty of fitness for a particular purpose is given or implied.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any loss, damage, delay, injury or cost arising from the use of, or reliance on, this app or any figure it produces.

Subscription

Some features require a Pro subscription that renews automatically. The available plans, their current prices and their billing periods are shown by the App Store or Google Play before purchase. Subscriptions renew according to the applicable store terms unless they are cancelled through the applicable store account. Cancellation and refund rights are governed by the applicable store terms and by applicable law.

Changes to these terms

These terms may change as the app changes. The version in the app is the current one, and the date above says when it was last revised.
